This summer, the world-renowned illustrator Luba Lukova visited Portfolio Center to give a much-anticipated lecture on her newest projects. Needless to say she did not disappoint. While Luba is known for her unmistakable, simple style and remarkable use of visual metaphor, something many people might not know about her is the heroic story of how she escaped the grips of Communism in Bulgaria and found her way to New York City to start a new life.
