You might not know this about Portfolio Center’s Director of Career Development and Job Placement, Claire Danielson, but there is more to her life than Portfolio Center. In an alternate universe, she plays mountain dulcimer in The Acoustic Trauma Unit.
The group has been playing old time music together for about four years. Besides the odd-woman-out, Claire, there are four men, all suits by day: Claire’s husband Bruce, who plays the fiddle, and guitarist Mark Boyles both work for UPS; on the banjo is Steve Soltis, employed by Coca-Cola; and playing washtub bass is Randy Smith, with Luckyfish Studios.
The Acoustic Trauma Unit has gathered quite a following, playing gigs at the Galax Old Fiddler’s Convention, Unicoi State Park, the Chattahoochee Natural Recreation Center, Len Foote Hike Inn, the Roswell Arts Festival, and—most recently—in the Dunwoody 4th of July Parade. Their first CD, Hogzilla, featuring the hit single, Sourwood Mountain, has met with critical acclaim from aunts and cousins far and wide.
