Xposed 2006

Earlier this summer, Portfolio Center’s president, Hank Richardson, was invited to Florida to jury the AIGA Miami statewide Xposed competition and exhibition. According to AIGA Miami’s co-president, Stephanie Cunningham, Xposed was “an opportunity to prove that thought-provoking design can coexist amidst orange groves, pink flamingos, and hanging chads.”
Designers and illustrators from Miami, Jacksonville, and Orlando entered 500 pieces from which 78 were chosen. Judging alongside Hank was Los Angeles-based design consultant and writer Terry Lee Stone.
Both jurors noted especially outstanding interactive and real estate work in the professional category, as well as superlative student design in an impressive variety of media.
The four Florida schools selected for the exhibit were Ringling School of Art & Design, Florida Atlantic University-Broward, Florida Atlantic University-Boca Raton, and New World School of the Arts.
In the professional arena, the fourteen artists/studios chosen were Ashleigh Lindenauer, Joanie Bernstein, Bridgehouse, Crave, Stephanie Cunningham, Elastic People, Eye Noise, Goldforest, Gouthier Design, IH Design, Juicy Temples, Lure Design, Suissa Design, and University of Miami Communications.
By judging competitions such as Xposed, conducting workshops, speaking at colleges and universities, and participating at conferences, Hank contributes to the design and advertising community while keeping abreast of the dynamic, ever-changing world of branding communications. And, as always, he brings that experience back to Portfolio Center.
