2006 Radio-Mercury Awards

Asked how it feels to accept the prestigious Radio-Mercury Student Award for Portfolio Center, the school’s president Hank Richardson exclaimed, "It's awesome! I’m in the busiest, greatest city in the world, picking up a prize won for work created in a little concrete block building on Bennett Street in Atlanta. Our students are magic."
This is actually the second year in a row Portfolio Center has won the prize, one of the most coveted advertising writing awards in the country. Garnering the trophy, along with a check for $2500, for their spot, “Worried,” for Roget’s Thesaurus, Zack McDonald and Elizabeth Perlman beat out finalists from Brainco, Miami Ad School, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Radio-Mercury Awards, radio’s most generous awards competition, grants over $150,000 in prizes annually, including a $100,000 Grand Prize. Funded by the Radio industry, the contest celebrates creative excellence in Radio commercials and Public Service Announcements broadcast in the U.S. Since its launch in 1992, Radio-Mercury has honored writers and producers of superlative Radio over $2 million.
Winners were announced at the 15th Annual Radio-Mercury Awards Luncheon on June 8, held at Cipriani Midtown in New York City.
