In the House!… Abercrombie & Fitch were here interviewing Portfolio Center designers. Creative Recruiter Eric Puestow has hired at least 50 of our grads over the past few years. Accompanying Eric on the visit was A&F designer (and Portfolio Center alum) Jenny Shores, who shared her excitement about working for a company that is the superlative of apparel and retail industries in the country.
Just out for perusal… the stunning Communication Arts 2009 Design Annual announcing the very best design of this year. It is a book full of excellence and brilliant creativity. CA celebrates its 50th year with the announcing of the winners in the celebrated competition. PC graduate Chris Thompson, taken under wing by the legendary James Victore, got the opportunity to work with James on the cover of the November 9 issue of Time magazine. The work is signature James, of course, but word has it that Chris made critical contributions of process and production.
When we asked them about Chris’s role on the cover, they gave us two very different responses.

Last year, Jenny Lam of Jackson Fish Market commissioned the Portfolio Center illustrators to create children’s books for an exciting project she and her partners were developing, A Story Before Bed. The students were assigned stories to illustrate, which would be published alongside the work of seasoned professionals. In all, PC students produced 10 of the 55 books currently available.
