Recently, during a particularly intense session on logos, my class was getting a little frustrated in their collaborations—and having a hard time accessing the creative spirit that is omnipresent around here. Not even visiting instructor Wade Thompson, who’d flown in from New York, could rouse them from their deep blue funk. So I felt a little playtime was in order and prescribed a game of touch football. My Two Cents On Shepard Fairey

With the recent discussion of Shepard’s work, I am having that feeling—OMG!— like we are back at the time these same conversations first took place regarding Warhol, Lichtenstein, Rauschenberg, and several other pop artists of that era. Once again, the winds of change are blowing, and it is important we embrace the change and go forward. Back when, Pop art was one of the most tempting, startling, controversial and vexing subjects of art, and it was as a retort opposing the seriousness of abstract exaggerations and expressionism that this same sort of dialogue showed up.

Eric from Abercrombie

We’re very fortunate to have a great relationship with Abercrombie & Fitch and, especially, with their creative recruiter Eric Puestow. Eric always seems very much at home at Portfolio Center, and his rapport with the students is as genuine as it is warm. He fits right in and could easily be mistaken for one of our own.

Eric brought lunch and spent most of the afternoon here yesterday, chatting with students about internship opportunities as well as future career possibilities.
