Class Reunion

What do companies like Ogilvy & Mather, Martha Stewart, The New York Times, Microsoft, McCann, Jackson Fish Market, Carbone Smolan, Frog Design, Blue Marlin, BBDO, Landor, RGA, Avenue Razorfish, AKQA, Interbrand, and Nike all have in common? Five, ten, fifteen years of some of the fabulous alumni below, who have come out in full force over the last two days to support Portfolio Center students while they are in NYC showing their work. Some amazing people and alumni—all leaders in their firms—once again proving that the value of a Portfolio Center education is the tremendous future opportunities for doing great work in great places, while finding happiness and profitability.

Now, for you current students, grad-elects, and prospectives…imagine if you were a writer for the international agency of McCann Erickson, or worked side by side with Martha Stewart, or directed the design and marketing for the New York Times, or created great web sites for Nike, or actually worked for Nike, or played a role in the design and marketing of some of the most prominent architecture in New York… Picture yourself working on global branding projects around the world, or creating packaging for some of the most important companies in the world, or being responsible for the design of Microsoft’s Windows software— just some of the job descriptions of PC alumni at the dinner table with us Monday night. These things are not pipe dreams, boys and girls. If you can imagine these futures, you can create them.

It never ceases to amaze me—not only the way our alumni keep up with one another, nurturing the lifelong friendships seeded on Bennett Street, but also the way they always come through so generously with their support of current Portfolio Center students.

It was great to see everyone!

  1. this was an amazing adventure. i can not say thank you enough for this opportunity.

  2. The PC experience as everyone knows cannot be explained to anyone except the people that have gone through it themselves. Its a long personal journey that you have to get through in order to make it to the end. Some things may not have made sense at the time, you may have had an anxiety attack on more than one occasion, but when the cutting and kerning and the crying is all said and done, it\’s one of the greatest feelings of achievement you could ever have. Going to New York reconfirmed exactly what the Portfolio Center is all about. Not only was the portfolio review a great opportunity but also getting to meet some of the amazing alumni. Everyone is still well-connected to PC, even years later down the road. PC creates such a bond within the school that it made me realize all of the friendships I have made here the past two years will be with me for a very long time. Sorry if this comes across a little too nolstalgic, it must be the jet lag. I\’ll miss you PC (sort of).

  3. Not only does your book have to be fabulous but it’s really about who you know and the alumni that I met this past week were a testament to that statement. Thank you Hank for all of the great opportunities that you have given your students. I really appreciate it.

  4. looks like fun times in the huge apple.
