A Letter, Maria

Who would’ve thought, walking in the door of Portfolio Center… that your dreams really can meet your expectations, that what seems ordinary one day will become extraordinary… and that at the end of it all—you can have so much more than a job—that the work you do every day can be exciting; it can be the thing that makes you happiest. It’s about what a life becomes…

I thought I’d share this email I just received from recent grad Maria Bisso, who is now designing for the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Maria came to Portfolio Center with an extensive theater background, so this position allowed her to combine her love for the stage and her passion for design—a match made in heaven. Banu, the fellow grad Maria refers to (and who’s pictured below with the playbill she designed) is freelancing in New York. Maria is the redhead and Banu the brunette, FYI. We’re so very proud of them both. Here’s the note:

Hey everyone,

It has been a crazy few months and tonight my designs were seen on the Big Screens during the plazacasts at Lincoln Center and Times Square, while Ms. Banu (fellow PC Grad for those who don’t know her) designed the Lucia playbill given out by the thousands (the MET holds over 4,000 and was sold out, not to mention the audiences out doors) and most of the Opening Night pieces.

All in all, it was a crazy, fun night! Check out the website for details of the evening.

As one the Slogans for LUCIA states, you’d be mad to miss it! Viva NY!

Enjoy the Pix,

Love and Laughter, Maria B.

  3. Looks like you ladies are having a good time up in the city. I am so proud and pleased to see the looks on your faces. It is extremely satisfying to see a piece of work that you designed get produced and more importantly distributed to a large number of people. Good job ladies.

I will have to come and visit you guys some time when I can get alway from the craziness here.

Good job again and don’t be strangers,
