Tanya Frank
Last week I was delighted to attend the Atlanta Ad Club luncheon along with Tanya Frank, who was one of the 2007 Scholarship winners celebrated at the Silver Award Medal event.
The festive occasion was packed full of activity as long time Advertising pundit-to-guru Patrick Scullin, who is one of the principals and the Executive Creative Director of Ames Scullin O’Haire, received the prestigious Silver Medal Award from the Atlanta Ad Club.
This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to advertising and who continually furthers industry standards, creative excellence, and social responsibility. Congratulations for all the contributions you have made in our Atlanta community, Patrick! And Thank you.
Also awarded at the luncheon was this year’s Young Advertising Professional award, which went to Dameon Pope, an Account Supervisor with Matlock Advertising & Public Relations.
During the lunch, a mainstage presentation was made by Trumpet Advertising from New Orleans, LA., as they showed a before-and- after scenario of how they transitioned the events of hurricane Katrina and illustrated how the Atlanta advertising community had been supportive during those times. They chose to ‘give back by using their own talents and leadership to inspire others within the New Orleans community— living from their own maxim borrowed from the imagination of Charlie Parker, “If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn.”
Honored as well was our own Tanya Frank, who received one of the three Atlanta Ad Club 2007 student scholarships.
And a word about Tanya… I met Tanya several years ago for the first time while attending the New York OneShow Awards gala (One Club/Welcome). One of our amazing alumni, Jeff Cooper, insisted she should meet me. Little did I realize, less than a year later she would be at Portfolio Center. Since she set foot here, Tanya has distinguished herself by hard work, dedication, and an enthusiasm unchecked… Tanya eats and sleeps everything you might call ‘creative’ stuff. She has grown over the time of her tenure here at Portfolio Center, and all that hard work is now framing some amazing results.
Let me share a few of them with you, for they represent the best of values and passions.
Tanya has an unstoppable work ethic… literally, she goes 25 hours a day and loves every minute of it. She loves branding, advertising, design, and she can write— I get funny looks sometimes from people who don’t believe me when I say that she can write… she understands touch points and what it takes to differentiate them…and, hey! as for the writing, she is one of 3 of the current finalist in the Radio Mercury Awards to be announced in NYC soon. And, did I say she is an Art Director, a Designer, and not a Copywriter per se… but mostly she is a THINKER.
In addition to her efforts here, she has spent the last 6 months interning with Fitzgerald & Co, working under the mentorship and leadership of Chief Creative Officer Eddie Snyder, one of the most amazing creative directors here in our midst, in Atlanta.
And, Tanya was recently one of the participants at the NY Art Directors Club national invitational portfolio review and, while there, attended a luncheon at DDB, where she was recognized as one of the 4 national DDB scholarship winners.
Tanya is soon to begin her grad quarter, during which she is planning to spend her energies placing an all-out emphasis in studying typography in a mad way.
Tanya, we’re proud of you. You are amazing!

Way to go Tanya! Congratulations and good luck on the Radio Mercury Awards.
you go girl!
