Celebration of Procreation
After I posted about my new granddaughter Molly, I found my inbox flooded with baby pics of several of our Portfolio Center alumni offspring (and future PC students?). I thought I’d share these. Any of you with a bambino not represented here, send in your photos and we’ll add them. We’d love to hear, in the comments, how you guys are balancing your careers with family.

Thanks a lot, you guys. Just when I should be gearing up for menopause, you’ve got me wanting another baby.
Those midnight feedings are proof that you really will only have time to sleep when you die.
My baby could beat up all of your babies.
I have never felt such an intense combination of happiness and extreme tiredness as I have right now. Anton is 3 months old and I finally “get” what’s so special about family. While I do not have time to draw or paint or knit or write, I know all this effort of ensuring that Anton thrives will pay off. The experience of parenthood while entirely draining, is very inspiring. This creativity has a longer cycle than what I’m used to. I have not yet had the challenge of the balancing act of family and work - but as the new Winter quarter begins, you will all get to witness my effort.
Happy New Year everyone. Congratulations again to you, Hank.
babies are for mature people
And yet—I had four.
I love my work, but in the twenty-seven years that I’ve been a photographer, never once at the end of the day has that work looked me in the eyes and said it loved me. My children have thousands of times. I’m a very lucky guy.
