International Students

Because Portfolio Center is not a degree program, international students must have an M-1 Visa in order to attend. If you have M-1 status, you’re not allowed to work in the United States and are not eligible for financial aid. Before issuing an M-1 Visa, the U.S. government requires a certification of finances showing that you have approximately $24,000 per year available for education and living expenses.

You need a strong command of the English language to succeed at Portfolio Center. Applicants should provide TOEFL scores or demonstrate your listening and speaking skills by talking with an admissions representative during office hours, 9-5 Monday-Friday. Don’t worry; this is not a test. It is simply an informal chat to make sure you can converse in English.

With the exception of the above requirements, application procedures are the same for international students as they are for U.S. residents.

For more information, contact an admissions representative at 800-255-3169, or go to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website: www.uscis.gov.

Portfolio Center will have a designated school official (DSO) to help you with immigration issues. Please note that you (the M-1 student) are solely responsible for following U.S. immigration laws and maintaining your own lawful non-immigrant status.
