Copywriting
Good writers make the best copywriters. That’s why the Portfolio Center writing curriculum is based on the philosophy that the practice of writing itself must be mastered to communicate marketing ideas effectively.
You will read and study great writing - fiction, essays, speeches, and poetry. You’ll practice each of those forms. We’ll help you become comfortable with taking risks in your writing. And armed with that classic foundation, you’ll then progress to the arts of strategy, branding, and concepting.
Next, you’ll collaborate with talented art directors, designers, photographers, and illustrators, learning to combine images with effective writing to express your ideas in the most powerful and creative ways.
Writing for advertising may look easy, but rest assured it’s not. As the old saying goes, all you have to do is ‘open a vein.’ Regardless, writing is the best job in advertising – at least according to writers.
